Located along the Little Miami National Wild and; Scenic River, the Newtown area has been inhabited for nearly 3,000 years. The Adena, Woodland, and Fort Ancient peoples left world-renowned sites and artifacts, while European pioneers settled here in the late 1700s. Now Newtown is a vibrant Midwestern village with well-kept homes, excellent parks, a link to the Little Miami Bike Trail, and a unique business district. The Newtown 5K Run and Walk has been a part of the Newtown/Cincinnati community for the past 34 years. The 2017 race is being brought to the community by St. John Fisher Catholic church in Newtown. In addition, a portion of the proceeds from the race benefit the Newtown Civic League and Turpin High School cross country.
Visit (www.newtown5krun.com) for pictures and details. The St. John Fisher race committee continues to provide elements that make this race special, such as chip timing, a digital clock at each mile, a free Fun Run for kids, the Corporate Challenge, separate starts for runners and walkers, and a refreshing post-race gathering at Newtown’s Moundview Park. The 2016 5K Run/Walk was well-attended and has grown to represent the hometown feel of our community. Nearly 800 people participated in the annual race through the Village of Newtown.
