Located along the Little Miami National Wild and; Scenic River, the Newtown area has been inhabited for nearly 3,000 years. The Adena, Woodland, and Fort Ancient peoples left world-renowned sites and artifacts, while European pioneers settled here in the late 1700s. Now Newtown is a vibrant Midwestern village with well-kept homes, excellent parks, a link to the Little Miami Bike Trail, and a unique business district. The Little Miami Scenic Trail Project: Phase 2 proposes to extend the Little Miami Scenic Trail from the Little Miami Golf Center to Clough Pike. The trail project is located in Hamilton County, Ohio in the Village of Newtown and Anderson Township and is part of a regional shared use trail system.
Project Purpose and Need
The purpose of this project is to construct a planned extension of the Little Miami Scenic Trail from the Little Miami Golf Center to Clough Pike, so as to enhance the existing trail system for Hamilton County, as well as improving recreational opportunities for the adjacent neighborhoods. This trail would offer enhanced transportation and recreation opportunities for walking/jogging, cycling, skating and wheelchair use. This project will also add to the existing trail systems throughout Southwestern Ohio and to the continued growth of Ohio’s overall trail system.
